ASA-X Scheduled Maintenance January 2026
There will be a maintenance shutdown of the ASA-X system January 2-7.
A noticeable change is that the minimum password length will be increased to 16 characters. If your password is shorter than this, you can update it before the shutdown, or you may be forced to set a new password the first time you login after shutdown.
Other changes during this shutdown include;
* Upgrade the PBS queue system.
* Some configuration changes to PBS to better handle heavy loads and give better performance on MPI jobs.
* Various software updates and security patches.
Any jobs that cannot complete before the shutdown will be held pending. We do not expect to preserve the pending job list, so any jobs that were pending when the system was shutdown may have to be resubmitted after the shutdown is complete.
Any files left in the /scratch directory or /scratch-local directory will be erased as part of this work.
If there are any questions or concerns, please address them to the HPC technical staff at hpc@asc.edu.
